Jong Hyun Jang - Korea
Date of Birth: 28 March 1984 (24)
Position: Defender

Korea’s Jong Hyun Jang is one of the most lethal penalty corner experts in the world, who combines ferocious power with deadly accuracy. This combination puts him high on the goal-scorers charts at just about every tournament that Korea enter.

Despite Korea finishing in last place at the recent Champions Trophy in Rotterdam, Jang was second in the goal scoring charts with six goals – almost half of Korea’s total number of strikes for the tournament.

Five goals at the 2006 World Cup in Mönchengladbach took his side to within touching distance of a Bronze medal, only for it to be taken away by an extra time golden goal from Spain’s Pol Amat.

Jang has developed a reputation as not just a penalty corner expert, but also as a defender of the highest quality. He has incredible levels of fitness, and is considered by many to be one of the best tacklers in the game.

Jang, named 2007 Player of the Year by the Asian Hockey Federation, is more than capable of having an impact at either end of the field for Korea in Beijing.
