Q. I’ve heard a rumour that the ASA Swimming Teaching qualifications are changing on 1 September 2007, therefore is there any point in me going onto a course now or am I better to wait?

A. The course(s) you attend now will still lead to an ASA qualification, which will be recognised as a swimming teaching qualification by the ASA (The Awarding Body and the National Governing Body for Swimming) in the context that it was taken.

The qualifications coming on stream as of 1 September 2007 will be new qualifications following new syllabuses and structures.

It has always been the case and will still be the case that it is down to employers to deem if a qualification is suitable for the position for which employment is being sought. A certification and qualification is only one way of assessing someone’s competence.
