Aim of the event:
In line with the World Hockey Youth Challenge theme and attract young players to enjoy a fun hockey day.  The event was held before the HKHA men’s and women’s cup finals thus enhancing the effect of promoting youth hockey.

Result of the event:
The event attracted over hundred youth hockey players in the 2 days of hockey activities.  It was also a golden opportunity for promoting HKHA’s summer Junior Hockey Promotion Scheme.

The participants were given a chance to experience playing hockey with former hockey Olympians, Jaap Derk Buma (Former Dutch International) and Ms. WANG Jiu Yan (Former Chinese International & coach of HKHA).

Former Hong Kong men’s team captain Faooq Saeed joined the event with his Beijing Olympic Torch which Farooq got to keep as he represented Hong Kong as one of Beijing Olympic Torch Relay runners.  The youth participants were very happy to have the chance to hold the torch and share the spirit of Olympism.

Follow up:
Maintain contacts with the participants for our future promotion program and target promising players for further development to senior level.

Organized by:
Simon Chapman (HKHA Head Coach), Ms. Wang Jiu Yan (Women’s Section Coach)
