Aim of the event: Clwb Hoci Dinefwr A’r Fro, is a new club established 2004, this is the first season the club started a Junior U 11 & U 13 section to the club boys and girls – aim of the event was to “Live the Dream” highlight that Hockey is being played in the Olympics, and for our club members to turn on the TV and look for the hockey being played and that these hockey players started their hockey careers just like this; but at the same time promoting the club, that there is a Junior section to the club so that these young players spread the word back in school to their friends that, playing hockey is fun…. But our main aim was to make it a family fun day, the children loved showing off their skills to their parents around the stations, but also loved the fact that they were to play a fun hockey match against their parents….. the club did not ask the children to pay for this day, but wanted them just to enjoy and maybe recruit a mum for the senior squad !
Result of the event: A fantastic day had by all…. Senior club members pulled together and made it a huge success,. Friends and families all helped with the food & drinks. Parents of these junior players have stepped forward and volunteered for any future events. 1 Mum was recruited for the senior squad.
Follow up: The club has an annual presentation evening, and this year the theme will be around the Junior Section of the club, lots of photographs were take on the day of “living the dream” so will have a slide show of the day and these Junior members will then see our senior players being awarded prizes for best player of the year / top goal scorer etc. so these young players can then aspire and developed to achieve recognition in their hockey career if they so wish.
With the help of the parents who stepped forward to help next season, the Junior section of the club
Can now enter the Junior leagues which have been set up in Wales, so these Junior players will have something to train and play for.
