Germany Moves Clear of Pakistan
19 Aug 2004 19:06

GERMANY 6 EGYPT 1

Germany showed why they are the world and European Champions when they crushed the Africa Champions, Egypt, after powering in four second half goals, three from penalty corners. Level 1-1 at half time, a brace by Christoph Bechmann helped pave the way for Germany to move clear of Pakistan at the head of the table and put them in a strong position to qualify for the last four.

Quotes:
Bjoern Emmerling (Germany):
"Maybe being pre tournament favourites was responsible for our bad first half performance but we're very well prepared and we need to show that on the field of play."

Yasser Mohgamed (Egypt)
"We had a very good first half but they were better in the second and took full advantage at the penalty corners."
