Kookaburras Give Solid Perfomance
15 Aug 2004 09:05

Australia 4 v New Zealand 1

Brent Livermore - Australia captain:
"Important to build the foundations in the first game and we did that although we had too many turnovers in the midfield in the second half. Overall it was a good solid team performance."

On Jamie Dwyer's hat-trick:
"They were world class goals. For a little fella he's really agile and quick and gets round the big defenders at the back. He's under a lot of pressure in his first Olympics and he was fantastic"

Charlie Oscroft (assistant New Zealand coach):
"Australia's finishing was Olympic class and you have to admire them for that.
They made the most of our turnovers but we were really pleased to score a penalty corner goal without our specialist Hayden Shaw on the pitch and I think that sends out a signal to other sides."
