Australia books record win over Belgium
26 Jul 2010 07:17

The Australian men’s team appears to be on target to defend its Champions Trophy title, defeating Belgium 7-2 in Belgium as preparation for the ABN AMRO FIH Champions Trophy.

Despite having a young squad the Kookaburras recorded a convincing victory, giving them confidence ahead of the ABN AMRO FIH Champions Trophy which begins in Germany on Saturday 31 July.

It was a slow start for the Kookaburras, not recording their first goal until the 22 minute mark. However they soon gained control and never looked in danger, recording 25 more circle penetrations.

The Kookaburras will play Belgium again on Monday 26 July as their final preparation for the ABN AMRO FIH Champions Trophy.

Belgium-Australia 2-7

Goals Australia: Jamie Dwyer 22m/ 52m, Mark Paterson 26m, Jason Wilson 30m, Trent Mitton 36m, Glenn Turner 41m/ 60m
